Daulat Khan and the Qazi now felt that Nanak had
true knowledge and was a great man because he could even read the innermost
thoughts of people.
Nanak explained to both of them that true worship is
a matter of sincere devotion and not religious formality.
They fell at Nanak's feet and exclaimed, "You
are truly God's man."
They picked up Nanak and carried him on their
shoulders. Soon people from various places came to visit Guru Nanak.
The Hindus and the Muslims were together in the same
procession praising Guru Nanak.
Everyone thought of Nanak as a Guru or teacher, but
Nanak felt that he himself needed a guru. So he let himself be a disciple of
Sat Kartar and let God decide him path for him.
He felt that there were many evil customs in society
which had to be removed.
He wanted to make a society which gave equal respect
to all. He wanted all the people to live with love in a state of peace and
happiness. So he taught them to love each other and practice religious
tolerance.
