THE SLEEPING UMBRELLS!

One evening Sheikh Chili's mother was happy because she had earned more money than usual. So she bought a lot of food stuff and made a wonderful dinner. Sheikh ate to his heart's content and felt sleepy.

But his mother remarked, "First go and give this dish to our neighbor or she might go to sleep."

It was raining outside and Sheikh requested his mother, "Please give me an umbrella."

His mother gave an umbrella to Sheikh. He took the dish, went out and gave it to their neighbor.

He came back soon. The umbrella was wet and his mother advised, "Keep the umbrella in a corner of your room and you go to bed. Go quickly child or you you will get sick."

Sheikh yawned sleepily and went to his room

Next morning, his mother came to wake up Sheikh.

She was amazed when she saw that the wet umbrella was lying on the bed and Sheikh was standing in the corner of the room, sleeping.

"Wake up, Sheikhu. What are you doing in t corner of your room?" asked the mother.

"You only told me to put myself in the corner of my room. But Mother, I am very weary. It is so tiring to stand and sleep," answered Sheikh.

The mother exclaimed, "Oh, you fool! I never said this. I told you to put the umbrella in the corner of your room. Not only have you suffered all night, but the wet umbrella has also wet your bed."

Sheikh was so tired because he had been standing up the whole night that he dropped down on the floor and went to sleep.

His mother quickly removed the wet sheets and made Sheikh lie down on the bed. Then Sheikh slept peacefully for a very long time.

His mother wondered, "Why is my son so forgetful and stupid? If only he could become clever!"
