DOG IN THE HOLE

Sheikh Chilli was walking around aimlessly when he saw a hole as wide as a well.

He started thinking about the hole in the ground. He could not see inside the hole because of the dirty water. How deep was it?

This question troubled his mind again and again. Then he could not stop himself.

He thought, "I must have out how deep this hole is. Then people will take me to be a clever person.

He sat down and thought of some way to find it out.

When he could not think of a way he looked around. There was nothing with which he could measure the depth.

Then he saw a log and an idea came to his mind. He felt very clever.

He started pulling the log towards the hole.

It was very heavy; still he pushed and pulled till he got the log near the hole.

Then he threw the log into the hole.

Suddenly a dog ran in and dashed after the log.

Sheikh was shocked at the speed with which the dog had run after the log.

He could not think of a reason why a dog would run after a log. He tried to find an answer, but he couldn't.

Then a man came looking here and there as if searching for someone. He looked all around and saw Sheikh.

He asked sheikh, "Have you seen a white dog?"

Sheikh nodded, "Yes. He just dashed into this hole."

The man said, "That is not possible because he was tied to a very heavy log."

"I threw the log into this hole," explain sheikh.

"What! But why would you do such a thing?" Asked the man.

"I wanted to see how deep the hole is, "Replied sheikh.

"Do you know to see how deep the hole is, "replied Sheikh.

"Do tou know what you have done?"Asked the man. "Yes I threw a log in the hole," repeated sheikh.

"You  idiot. You have killed my dog," shouted the man.

"But I didn't throw the dog in the hole, "said sheikh.

Angrily the man started beating sheikh who still did not understand what wrong had gone.
