SHIKISM

Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, crucially changed the way people thought. What Guru Nanak started is still being followed by Sikhs (meaning disciple) or Sardars all over the world.
A Guru's Sikh is ssupposed to carry these five things beginning with teh letter K that is, Kesh (hair), Kirpan (dagger), Kachha (lower underclothes), Kara (steel bangle) and Kangha (comb).
Sikhism, in the beginning, believed in peace, but after the severe torture that Guru Arjan Dev Ji had to undergo at the hands of Jahangir and at the cruel execution of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur, the Sikhs decided to train themselves in teh skills of warfare. This was done to fight against injustice and tyranny.

The Sikhs have proved to be one of the bravest fighting groups of India. This is evident in the fights they fought against the Mughals.

The eleventh guru
The Guru Granth Sahib Ji has many hymns and religious songs composed by Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Guru Arjan Dev Ji compiled it, and the rest of the Gurus added to it. But they all kept the name of Nanak in the hymns.
The Guru Granth Sahib has 1430 pages in poetry form.
It has the verses of Guru Nanak, which he sang in the language Gurumukhi.
All t beliefs and faiths of Sikhs come from these religious songs composed by th ten Gurus.
Verses of other saints and poets have also been included in the Guru Granth Sahib. They have been included as they prove the basic teachings of Sikhism.
